Spring is here and you’re getting ready to throw a party. Nerves racked from all the preparation stress? If that is the case, you are not alone. Venturing into the world of party planning can be quite daunting. What should you serve? Should it be a sit-down affair or a buffet mixer? Indoors or outdoors? Traditional dinner, BBQ, small plates? What kind of appetizers or snacks should you serve? What do you do if your boss has a food allergy or someone is diabetic? Never fear! Much can depend on the occasion or event. But with some planning and preparation we can help you wow your guests!
In fact, party planning can be just as much fun as the party itself! Especially if you leave it to our Event Planners. However, to make it easier if it’s a DIY affair, we have assembled some tips and tricks to planning successful parties that will make yours memorable for some time to come.
Ask a Few Questions: It’s good to know beforehand if anyone may have a food allergy or special dietary need. If you are emailing invitations, you can use this as a time to ask if there are any requests of this nature. With a little knowledge during planning, your guest(s) will not feel they’ve caused concern.
Keep the Menu Simple: Choose one or two involved menu items and one that’s simple. It’s best to choose the entrées first, and then plan the other dishes around it. While it’s fun to for our chef to make complicated dishes, be realistic about what you want to serve, your budget and keep things simple. Remember that simple does not have to equal boring.
Pass the Appetizers: Consider serving passed or stationary appetizers. This will get your guests engaged in a fun way while sipping cocktails or other refreshments. It will open conversations and get people talking, and not just necessarily about the wonderful food you are serving.
Presentation Matters: Part of the fun in serving wonderful food is in the presentation. A spray of flowers, a handful of fresh herbs or a floral arrangement can provide a simple, colorful garnish. Simple dishes will look elegant by surrounding them with creative decorations such as unlit candles or colorful napkins. Our professionals know these secrets as well as the next.
Garnish It: Another option is to choose one of the recipe’s ingredients, such as red onion say, and save a few pretty slices for the top of the dish. The best garnish will be the smiles on your guests faces, so don’t forget to relax and have fun — after all, it’s your party!
Leave Them on a Sweet Note: All of your guests will certainly enjoy dessert. From simple home-baked cookies, to mini cup cakes with colorful icing and flavors to a do it yourself open fire s’mores bar, everyone likes to close on a sweet note. Served with a choice of fresh brewed coffee and assorted hot teas, it’s the perfect way to perk up your guests before they leave.
